New works underway | Here's some information about them and where they're heading...
One of three interior scenes which will be propped up on their own supports next to each other, dragging the paintings into a more sculptural space.
These works are made of some found and weather worn materials which have lost their intended functionality, which is juxtaposed by the fine oil paint applied to the surface.
The idea for these works is to either be displayed outside so they continue to weather, warp and degrade or to be preserved in their current state within a gallery setting. To me though, I have a growing interest in the idea of a transformative artwork, something which is never finished, and always changing.
Much like my other works, the image isn’t as important as the constructed object of the surface but plays a crucial part in drawing attention to the work through a conflict of the figure and ground.
